Workforce Pell – CommonSense American is Now Four-For-Four!
Workforce Pell legislation has officially passed in Congress, thanks in large part to the direct involvement of CommonSense Americans. Through the State Ambassador program, our impact grew dramatically this year as we expanded our reach fivefold on Capitol Hill. In total, we briefed an unprecedented 320 congressional offices, sharing the views of thousands of CommonSense Americans who engaged with our Career-Connected Learning (CCL) brief. The CCL polling showed overwhelming support for Workforce Pell, and that message guided each of our conversations. The final legislation passed mirrors our recommendations, prioritizing results-based funding over administrative rules to ensure that Pell Grant money is allocated only to programs that successfully connect graduates with higher-paying jobs.
It’s deeply inspiring that, given today’s bitter political divides, we’ve been able to come together as everyday Americans from across the country to help Congress pass practical solutions. This achievement isn’t an outlier—it’s part of a growing pattern of meaningful, bipartisan wins shaped by citizen engagement. We have played a significant role in (1) ending the surprise medical bills that were bankrupting tens-of-thousands of Americans a year, (2) making the largest investment in infrastructure since the Eisenhower Administration, (3) fortifying peaceful transitions of power for generations to come with the Electoral Count Reform Act, and now (4) making life-changing job training available to tens-of-thousands more Americans.
Help Pick Our 2025 Issue (RTI)
With Congress passing the Workforce Pell bill as part of its reconciliation package, our attention now turns exclusively to picking our next topic. The 2025 Rate-The-Issues (RTI) survey is open, focusing on the most compelling opportunities for bipartisan cooperation drawn from extensive conversations with congressional offices from both parties. The issues presented center around policy proposals that leaders trust will receive support from across the aisle.
We are actively meeting with congressional offices to share our members’ views and help them select an issue with broad-based bipartisan support to work on this year. Our past track record and the additional promise of working with these groups make it clear that weighing in as a CommonSense American is a more powerful way than ever to make a real difference. Your opinions can inform influential bipartisan legislation in 2025. Don’t miss your chance to make your voice heard! Weigh in and Rate The Issues today.
