Weekly Update: National Member Meeting

By February 20, 2026February 27th, 2026CommonSense News

Last night, Thursday, February 19th, CommonSense American hosted a meeting to explore our 2026 issue, aligned with our goal to bridge bipartisan divides. The meeting was productive and helped narrow our options, gain expertise on the potential issues, and hear the perspectives of our members. If you would like to have your voice heard in the process, please consider filling out the RTI form linked in the Help Select Our Next Issue section. Thank you for the consistent support of our important work.

National Members Meeting Recap

During the meeting, we discussed what’s on the horizon for CommonSense American. Over 150 CSA members joined us for a productive conversation about how we can make an impact once our next issue brief is chosen. Senator Lisa Murkowski’s (R-AK) Deputy Chief of Staff, Kate Williams, joined us and offered key insights on potential issues and bipartisanship. One of the most impactful ways to make an extra difference is joining us for our Congressional briefings with offices from your state! If you’re interested in joining us for these meetings once we have the results for our next issue, please email Mary Tanner, our Ambassador Program Director: mary@commonsenseamerican.org. We are excited to make a difference in Congress standing, shoulder-to-shoulder with our members!

Help Select Our Next Issue

As we continue refining our Common Sense American research focus, your feedback remains invaluable. We welcome your perspectives on potential topics to help us identify the issue that will most effectively serve our members. The Rate-The-Issues (RTI) survey is now live, spotlighting the most promising opportunities for bipartisan collaboration, shaped by in-depth conversations with congressional offices from both sides of the aisle. Each issue in the survey reflects policy proposals that leaders believe can earn broad, cross-party support.

We are actively engaging with congressional offices to share our members’ views and select an issue with strong bipartisan support for this year’s work. Our proven track record and the growing interest from these offices make it clearer than ever that participating as a CommonSense American is one of the most impactful ways to shape real legislative progress.
