In moments of violence and tragedy, we recognize the intense need for all Americans to make clear that this has no place in our society. By recording a one-sentence message, you can show that we stand united.
Guidance for Content
Because we’d like to include your statement with many others, we’re asking you to record two sentences.
First, please record the theme of the campaign: “We’re better than this.”
Second, please use any sentence that best captures what you’d like to say. Here are some examples, but feel free to come up with your own:
- Political violence is never the answer
- Political violence is an attack on America
- Resorting to violence is an affront to what we stand for
- I join the thousands of Americans who condemn political violence
- We can do better
- We must do better
- Let’s remember that what unites us is more important than what divides us
- Let’s not let the extremes define us
Guidance for Recording
- Make sure you’re centered so that we can fully see your face
- Find a place that has good lighting
- Check that the background is appropriate
- After you’ve recorded your video, we’ll ask your permission to use it on social media and our websites.
Recording Instructions
You can record a short video using the recording feature below.
For Desktops: When prompted, allow access to your microphone and camera. Click the small red record button to start recording. Once you’re satisfied with your message, click the red stop button. Press the play button to review your video or click the record button to start over.
For Mobile Devices: Tap the button labeled “1. Record or select a video file” to open your phone’s video options. Record a new video or select an existing one. Afterward, press the “2. Upload” button and complete the rest of the form.
